If you're looking for a thought partner and builder for a challenge in media, culture, or technology, I'd love to connect. Here's what I love to do:
- Make the squishy stuff matter. Mission, vision, and values that are more than posters in the CHRO's office, give teams a sense of purpose, and maybe pride. No matter how world-changing and well written these are, if they're not part of how you operate, they're worthless.
- Keep strategy from getting lost in translation. I'm a co-author and an incisive editor of corporate, product, tech, and marketing strategy, the kind that unblocks organizations and positions them to win. But good strategy usually falls down in translation. How many times has a new strategy been unveiled, only to leave teams unsure what it means for their day-to-day work? How many times has a CEO asked, "Why isn't X team following the new strategy?" or "How does this product roadmap relate to our goals?" Whether the team is 10 people or 10,000, these gaps can be closed.
- Build products and experiences with a story. I love solving problems, studying consumer behavioral shifts, and making things people didn't know they needed. What I hate are products with no purpose or point of view. What I hate more are trees falling in a forest: great content, stories, or apps that never find their audience. Some call this finding product-market fit. I call it telling a story people want to listen to.
- Make money the right way. Whether the goal is impact and sustainability, breaking even, or total category domination, I love turning ambitious financial goals into operating plans that deliver, with incentives aligned from the start.
